Energizing Hollow O-rings

Gaskets, hollow O-rings, Seals can be made from Solid or Hollow rubber extrusion profiles. Hollow O-Rings offer a low closure force alternative to solid O-Rings. As required for many lids and doors, hollow O-Rings are used in applications that require the seal to stay in the groove while not overfilling the gland or warping the enclosure lid or door.Hollow O-rings, gaskets, seals can be used in non standard groove or grooves with irregularity. Hollow O-Rings consist of an elastomer inner ring and a seamless sheath which surrounds the elastomer ring. Similar to PTFE O-Rings hollow O-Rings are used wherever the chemical resistance of normal elastomer O-Rings are not sufficient. The required elasticity is provided by the elastomer ring, the chemical resistance by the seamless sheath.

ll standard hollow Orings come in are sized by the "AS568-" system, after the dash is a series of three number that determines the physical size of the O-ring. There are three parts of the O-ring that are measured to determine its size: the outside diameter, inside diameter and cross section or width.
