Gaskets are materials that seal between two different surfaces, under compression. The sealing is a result of the compressive forces created by sufficient bold load, and also works to fill the imperfections on the mating surfaces to be sealed. Gaskets and seals have always been an integral part of Darcoid Nor-Cal Seal. Gradually, Darcoid's die-cutting capabilities have grown alongside technology, helping them render cutting edge products. Darcoid has manufactured for a large variety of high volume applications for quite some time now. The unique process for producing precision extruded and die cut gaskets provides customers tremendous latitude in design flexibility, and eliminates tooling charges for any ID/OD combination from .030" to 19.000" outside diameters.

Darcoid's seals are made with only "sealing grade" material formulations with the highest possible percentage of polymer for the most effective long-term sealing solutions. Extruded and die cut products are usually supplied as ID/OD tubing type cross-sections, but can also be supplied in a variety of different cross-sections such as square, rectangular and triangular. Custom cross-sections are also available are also delivered by Darcoid Nor-Cal Seals. Temperature is possibly the most important factor in choosing a gasket material. When higher temperatures at the gasket joint need to be sealed, the potential choices are quickly eliminated. If the system operating temperatures approach a gasket materials max. continuous operating temperature threshold, the next best material should be chosen.

Chemical compatibility to the media to be sealed against (including flushes and system cleanouts). There are many different fluids and gases to seal against, and many different choices of gasket materials to seal against them. The internal pressure of the fluid should be a determining factor in choosing a gasket sealing material. If severe cycling or pressures changes occur frequently, a more robust material may be required. Application of this includes all factors such as the number, grade and size of bolts to create compression and the surface areas of the sealed joint. For EMI gaskets, this includes the amount of EMI and RFI shielding required.
